But anyway, let's get right into it shall we. I appreciate the holidays a great deal, don't get me wrong, but (not to be a Scrooge) I hate the holidays too.
I hate shopping. I hate going to shopping malls and Wal-Mart and Target and whatever else during this time of year. This time of year is when you see them at their most hypocritical state.
Yesterday I was blocked, cut off, nearly rear ended, and almost hit any other way you can imagine. Children have lost their ever loving minds and decided to run through parking lots without even glancing at the oncoming traffic. Old people have forgot to shuffle themselves on a crosswalk, instead they're shuffling their swollen feet diagonally through the intersection.
Any other time of year, a decent person wouldn't be acting so foolish. But because it's the season of giving, they've decided to give me a headache and a near heart attack. After that, they'll smile and say those two words that they assume will make everything okay, "Merry Christmas"
Bah humbug!!!! That's what I got to say about it. If you really want to wish me a Merry Christmas, just try not to go all "Rambo" in a parking lot (especially when finding that one good parking spot). Don't tell me the present I bought my father is $287 when the price tag clearly says $79. Just be real, it's okay to wear your heart on your sleeve. It's also okay to cope with the stressful day by cracking a joke, but choose your battles wisely.
Bottom line: don't go all crazy, because I just might call you out.
Merry Christmas.
