"I need a vacaaation" --Young Jeezy
Doing theater in New York is an ongoing grind...it's nothing but hustle and bustle (everyday I'm hustlin'--Officer Rick Ross). In order to work on one show, then another and be cool with not seeing or talking to the people you love, care, or just like hanging out with requires a certain lack of sanity. On top of that, doing (working) three shows in a week while wanting to develop your own ideas requires an even further lack of sanity and a desire to never get adequate sleep.
There comes however, a time in everyone's life in when you have to stop forging that hot metal into a sword. Unfortunately for me and my eyes (as weary as they may be), that time hasn't come yet.
Even though "I need a vacaation" in one way, I can't fall off because it will take too long to get back up. Probably what I need more than anything is a co-writer, or a creative consultant. There are honestly too many projects that I have to do...even if they never see the light of day (even though I'd rather see them up and running).
How many projects? Let's name them (all titles are tentative):
4 Women
Hangman: The N**** Mixtape
The Jan Chronicles
Life in Dance Major
Dogs (the complete series)
One Man Conversation
Flip! (biopic)
The Life and Times of Rapper Calloway: an American Visionary
Mentuition
the Spooty J project
Untitled Solo Show
On top of that, I would love to launch the Grey State Group, basically a group of Southern artists in New York. There's a lot to deal with, as well as making a living. Earning a living is a lot just as it is. Put more stuff on top of that; well, that's when you start to bend some. Let's hope I don't break.
By the way, I went to an audition, and totally killed it.
